Workshops
G.O.A.'L offers a variety of programming throughout every year for the Korean adoptee community. Many of these programs are coordinated and facilitated by G.O.A.'L members on a volunteer basis for the benefit of the community. We are happy to announce that the following workshops are being offered and organized by the following members. Any adoptee is welcome to attend the workshops. Please check our News & Events section for announcements on upcoming workshop dates.
Explore Yourself Through Art Karin Lim, Coordinator
Do you enjoy doing art? Does the sound of painting, collage, and/or creative writing appeal to you? Are you curious about exploring your identity in a new and unique way? Then come and participate in a workshop designed to use art to express ourselves! Here we will have ample opportunities to create one-of-a-kind art and meet other Korean adoptees with similar interests. Together we will explore the thoughts and feelings that aren’t so easily expressed through words alone and perhaps discuss as a group. NO ARTISTIC SKILLS REQUIRED! Workshops will be held every 3rd Saturday of each month. For more information please contact Karin Lim at karin.lim@jubileeseoul.com or 010-3215-8891.
Karin Lim is a Korean adoptee with background in social work and art therapy who shares insights about her own personal journey and how expressive arts led her onto a path to self-discovery and new-found confidence, propelling her to explore more of her Korean identity.
Post-Reunion Discussions (Panel Discussion) Nik Leschly, Coordinator
The first post-reunion discussion (PRD) was held in April 2008 through the initiative of co-creators Nik Leschly and Robyn Shultz. These unique panel discussions are for anyone who is curious about adoptee reunion experiences – what has transpired since the initial meeting as well as what the current relationships are like. Through these discussions we aim to help others who encounter similar situations, questions, emotions, and concerns.
As part of G.O.A.'L's ongoing Post-reunion Support Services, these discussions host individuals who share their post-reunion experiences followed by a Q&A session. The panels have been organized in various locations around Seoul in order to provide as much access to all adoptees currently residing in Korea. Sessions are open to everyone and are generally held in English. However, depending on the speaker and audience, translation may be provided in Korean, French or other languages.
If you are interested in speaking at one of these discussions or have questions/comments please contact Nik Leschly prd.seoul@gmail.com or 010-8359-6905.
