Dear Adoptee Community,
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for their support during my term which covered most of 2012. It was an honor to work with the community. I came to Korea just over a year ago and G.O.A.’L has helped me through so much of my transition, birth family search and settling into a new community. Before coming to Korea, I had many parts of my adoption identity that were left unexplored and coming to Korea and being in community is what really helped embrace these parts of my identity. I grew tremendously from this experience and I want to thank those that reached out to me and offered advice and helped learn more about the intricacies of our amazing community.
Over the last few months, the staff has been diligently working and we’ve made a lot of progress in refocusing and organizing G.O.A.’L. At the end of last summer we started strategic planning. During our strategic planning process, we had the help of two adoptee consultants, Tammy Ko Robinson and Seth Hammontree. They were integral forces in our process and as my term was ending, it became apparent that Seth was the best fit for the next chapter of G.O.A.’L. Although, I am very sad to leave, I am very excited for Seth’s transition as we worked together so hard to plan for the coming year. His skills and work with us has been a very valuable asset to our staff and I know he will keep our work going strong. Please join me in welcoming him to G.O.A.’L and offer him support as he searches for the new Secretary General.
Thanks again and best wishes in the New Year. I will be continuing to support our community from Cameroon!
