Global Overseas Adoptees' Link - First Trip Home 2016

At Global Overseas Adoptees' Link we are pleased to announce the 2016 First Trip Home.

Our application period will be March 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016.

The application is open to current G.O.A.'L members (only memberships valid through the application period will be considered).

Since 2008, Global Overseas Adoptees' Link (G.O.A.'L) has arranged First Trip Home with the aim of reconnecting Korean adoptees with their origins and providing a unique experience for the participants. First Trip Home is intended for adoptees that have never previously returned to Korea and would like to do so in order to reconnect with Korea. Rather than a typical sightseeing tour of Korea, our First Trip Home is focused on helping adoptees reconnect with their origins in a meaningful way.

This year's program will take place from Tuesday, August 30, 2016 to Friday, September 9, 2016 (KST).

Selection

We select the First Trip Home participants based on the following criteria:

  • You have never returned to Korea since your adoption;
  • The availability of information about your origins.

Selection process is NOT determined by when applications are submitted.

Tentative Itinerary

From: Tuesday, August 30th, 2016
To: Friday, September 9th, 2016

(The finalized itinerary will be released after participant selection.)
Day 1-3: Check-in, Registration, Orientation, Opening Ceremony, Agency Visit
Day 4-7: Membership Training, Individual schedules, Cultural Activities

Participants will have the opportunity to visit their adoption agency and other places relevant to their specific origins. You may have the possibility of appearing in different Korean media to share your story with the Korean public (most likely through the nationwide tv stations KBS or YTN).

Depending on demand and availability, G.O.A.'L may be able to assist in more casual sightseeing of Seoul after the official program has concluded.

All lodging during the duration of the tour is covered by G.O.A.'L. Group meals during the scheduled program are covered as well, but during your free time you are responsible for your own meals.
