2022 Fundraiser for Korean Adoptees

Please consider giving to the only adoptee-led NGO and non-profit in Korea, so we can continue our invaluable work for the adoptee community.

After 24 years...

G.O.A.’L. remains the only adoptee-led NGO and non-profit organization in Korea that is dedicated to supporting overseas adoptees’ connection back to their homeland. For over 2 decades, we have helped thousands of adoptees return to Korea and supported them in their own unique ways – whether through Korean language, birth family, and everything else in between – G.O.A.’L. has been able to provide invaluable services and resources for our community.

We are asking for your financial support as we continue this important work. Your donation will go towards the operations of the G.O.A.’L. office including:

Maintaining the original online service portal for Korean adoptees

At the end of 2020, G.O.A.’L. announced their new website and membership platform portal! This portal was created to better assist our members with our services – including step-by-step guides to the F-4 and Dual Citizenship application process, as well as ability to schedule direct 1:1 consultations with our staff. This platform was used all throughout 2021 to help our members with each unique situation.

Your donation will go towards the maintenance of this resource for current and future members of our organization!

Korean Language Support

On top of G.O.A.’L.’s continued scholarship program, we introduced 2 new programs to help adoptees connect with the Korean language in 2021: Let’s Speak Korean! and MalHagi

Let’s Speak Korean! partnered with Korea’s top university, Seoul National University (SNU), to offer online sessions that introduced Korean culture and language to over 50 adoptees around the world, through the experience and lens of Korean college students.Β  G.O.A.’L. and SNU plan to continue their partnership and program in 2022!

MalHagi is a one-on-one Korean language support program that pairs adoptees with native Korean speakers to help practice their Korean and build confidence in their speaking skills. In 2021, this program connected over 30 adoptees from around the world with native Koreans and has become one of the most invaluable language support programs for G.O.A.’L. and adoptees alike. We plan to continue this program in 2022!

Your donation will go towards the continued operation of these programs through direct support of the G.O.A.’L. staff who organizes these programs.

Birth Family Search and Reunion

In 2021, G.O.A.’L. was contacted by over 200 adoptees about birth family search, and worked on 49 active birth family search cases. 2 of the cases became hands-on search cases where the adoptee was able to come to Korea and G.O.A.’L. worked throughout their stay to provide any resources or assistance for their search.

For 2022, G.O.A.’L. hopes to continue this 1:1 personalized search service through the Sotdae program that first launched at the end of 2021. Sotdae aims to exhaust all resources and avenues to help an adoptee find answers to their story, but also have some closure to an already opened story. A dynamic and detailed search itinerary is curated for an adoptee’s specific case and G.O.A.’L. offers a full-service package including travel expenses to Korea.

Your generous donation will go towards resources like this to help adoptees connect to their past.

Dual Citizenship & F-4 Visa Assistance

As more and more adoptees look to restore their Korean nationality and apply for the F-4 visa, G.O.A.’L. has become one of the only organizations to assist in the processes. We offer step-by-step guides, personalized consultations, and translation services. As the only organization in Korea to work with adoptees on these processes, we have become a vital resource for the unique cases of adoptees applying for dual citizenship and F-4 visa.

Your generous donation will go towards supporting the staff who handle cases, as well as the up-keep of our step-by-step guides for our members.
